We’re hitting the road this December, with three shows in Glastonbury, Reading and Hitchin. And we can’t wait!
We know that we have been relatively quiet this past year and we thank you for your patience. And we promise we’ve not be idle. It’s actually been a busy couple of years behind the scenes at Storm Deva. We’ve been writing and recording new music, developing our sound and consolidating the five musicians who now make up the band. It’s been an exciting process, but there’s nothing quite like getting on stage and sharing the music with an audience.
We’ve played a handful of gigs along the way, partly to introduce Storm Deva to new people and partly to discover how the music really works in a live setting. Your response and support has been wonderfully encouraging, and with every performance we’ve felt ourselves growing. Then, in June, something rather special happened.
We were playing a co-headline show with the brilliant Dutch band Lesoir at The Camden Club in London, courtesy of Chris Parkins and London Prog Gigs. We’d been looking forward to the gig, of course, but what we hadn’t quite anticipated was how right everything would feel once we got on stage.
It all just clicked together. We were no longer individual musicians playing their parts. We were a band; a single musical unit, listening and responding to one another, completely comfortable with the music and with each other.
It’s difficult to describe that feeling if you haven’t experienced it, but it’s beyond wonderful. You stop thinking about the mechanics of playing and simply become part of the music. And we came off stage wanting more!
Storm Deva is made up of founder members Carollyn Eden (vocals, piano and chief composer) and Stuart Clark (guitars). They are joined by band members Rob Brian on drums, Pete Clark on bass and Hannah Reeves on cello. Of course, finding time for five musicians with busy lives to get together isn’t always straightforward. But when a window opened up in (almost) everyone’s diaries this December, we jumped at the chance to arrange a few shows.
So, we’re delighted to announce three Storm Deva concerts this December!
Saturday 5 December – The Arthur, Glastonbury
We’re kicking things off in Glastonbury, where we’ll be sharing a co-headline bill with the fantastic Kindred Spirit Band. It’s going to be a magical evening of live music, that will be a great way to start the mini-tour. Get your Glastonbury tickets here.
Tuesday 8 December – The Butler, Reading
Next up is Reading, where we’ll be headlining at The Butler, with support from the ethereal Daughter of the Water. We’re particularly looking forward to this one because it gives us the opportunity to play a full headline set and take the audience on the complete Storm Deva musical journey. Get your Reading tickets here.
Thursday 10 December – Club 85, Hitchin
We’ll be rounding off our mini-tour at Club 85 in Hitchin, appearing as part of a multiband evening that is bound to be eclectic mix of awesome bands. We’re still waiting for the final ticket information from the venue, but we’ll share it as soon as it’s available. Sign up to our newsletter and we’ll make sure you hear about it.
Earlier, I did say almost everyone. Scheduling around Hannah’s busy life means that she is not available for the gigs, but thanks to the wonders of modern musical technology her unique playing will accompany us on these nights.
And there’s plenty more to come…
As exciting as the December gigs are, they’re only part of what’s happening with Storm Deva.
We’ve been working away on new material, and 2027 is shaping up to be a very big year for us.
First, we’re planning to release our Oak of Honor EP, followed by our second full-length studio album. There’s a tremendous amount of music we’re looking forward to sharing with you, and we’re eager to see where it takes us. But that’s for next year.
Right now, we’re looking forward to getting together, turning up the amps and doing what we love most: taking our audience into some fantastic musical landscapes.
If you’ve seen Storm Deva before, we’d love to see you again. We’ll be previewing some of the material from our upcoming releases. And if you’ve been curious about us but haven’t yet made it to a gig yet, we’d be delighted if you came along and discovered what we’re all about.
See you in December!
